Alex Yeselson was born on May 12, 1985, in Moscow, Russia. He was born into a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Yeselson was exposed to classical music and began playing the piano at the age of four. As a child, Yeselson showed exceptional talent and was quickly recognized as a prodigy. He began performing in public at the age of six and was soon invited to perform at prestigious venues such as the Bolshoi Theatre and the Moscow Conservatory. In 1995, Yeselson and his family moved to the United States, where he continued his musical education. He studied at the Juilliard School in New York City and later at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Throughout his career, Yeselson has won numerous awards and accolades for his performances. In 2003, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition in San Marino, Italy. He has also been a finalist in several other international competitions, including the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and the Leeds International Piano Competition. Yeselson has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many renowned conductors, including Valery Gergiev, Simon Rattle, and Riccardo Muti. One of Yeselson's most memorable performances was his debut at Carnegie Hall in 2007. He performed a program of works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff to critical acclaim. The New York Times praised his "virtuosic technique and sensitive musicality." In addition to his performances as a soloist, Yeselson is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has collaborated with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet.
