She was the daughter of a guitarist and began playing the guitar at the age of four. Her father, Luigi Mozzani, was a renowned Italian guitarist and composer who had settled in France. He was her first teacher and mentor, and he recognized her talent and potential at a very young age. Ida Presti's musical career began when she was just six years old, and she made her first public appearance at the age of eight. She quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent and was soon performing in concerts and competitions throughout France. She won her first prize at the age of ten in a competition organized by the French radio station Radio-Paris. In 1938, at the age of fourteen, Ida Presti was invited to perform at the International Guitar Congress in Paris. Her performance was a huge success, and she was praised for her technical skill and musicality. This performance marked the beginning of her international career, and she soon began performing in concerts and festivals throughout Europe. During World War II, Ida Presti and her family were forced to flee Paris due to the German occupation. They settled in the south of France, where Ida continued to study and perform. In 1946, Ida Presti married the French guitarist Alexandre Lagoya, and the couple began performing together as a duo.
