Sherba received his formal music education at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned violinist Isadore Tinkleman. He later went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree. After completing his studies, Sherba began his professional career as a violinist, performing with various orchestras and ensembles. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile musician, with a deep understanding of classical music. One of Sherba's most notable performances was with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, where he served as the concertmaster for several years. He also performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, among others. In addition to his work with orchestras, Sherba was also a sought-after chamber musician. He was a founding member of the Kronos Quartet, a renowned string quartet that has been active since 1973.
