Douglas Lora was born in São Paulo as well, and began playing the guitar at the age of nine. He studied at the University of São Paulo and the Mannes College of Music in New York City. The two musicians met while studying at the University of São Paulo, and quickly discovered a shared love for Brazilian music and the guitar. They began performing together as a duo, and soon realized that they had a special chemistry and musical connection. They decided to form Brasil Guitar Duo, with the goal of showcasing the beauty and diversity of Brazilian music to audiences around the world. Since their founding, Brasil Guitar Duo has become one of the most acclaimed guitar ensembles in the world. They have performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and have collaborated with renowned musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma and Paquito D'Rivera.
