Ensemble Sans-Souci, Berlin
Artist Info
Role:EnsembleEnsemble Sans-Souci is a classical music ensemble based in Berlin, Germany. The ensemble was founded in 2008 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to explore the rich repertoire of classical music. The founding members of Ensemble Sans-Souci were violinist Friedemann Eichhorn, cellist Gabriel Schwabe, and pianist Nicholas Rimmer. All three musicians had already established themselves as soloists and chamber musicians in their own right, but they were drawn together by a shared vision of creating a dynamic and innovative chamber music ensemble. From the beginning, Ensemble Sans-Souci set out to explore the full range of the chamber music repertoire, from the Baroque era to contemporary works. The ensemble's name, which means "carefree" in French, reflects their approach to music-making: they strive to create performances that are both technically precise and emotionally engaging, while also maintaining a sense of spontaneity and joy. Over the years, Ensemble Sans-Souci has expanded to include a rotating cast of musicians, but the core trio of Eichhorn, Schwabe, and Rimmer remains at the heart of the ensemble. They have performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Konzerthaus Berlin, and the Wigmore Hall in London. One of the highlights of Ensemble Sans-Souci's career was their performance at the 2010 Rheingau Music Festival, where they were awarded the prestigious Rheingau Music Prize. The prize recognized the ensemble's outstanding musicianship and their commitment to promoting classical music to a wider audience. In addition to their concert performances, Ensemble Sans-Souci is also dedicated to music education and outreach. They have worked with young musicians in Germany and around the world, leading masterclasses and workshops and mentoring the next generation of chamber musicians. Ensemble Sans-Souci's discography includes several critically acclaimed recordings, including their debut album, "Beethoven: The Complete Piano Trios," which was released in 2011. The album was praised for its technical precision and emotional depth, and it helped establish the ensemble as one of the leading chamber music groups of their generation. In recent years, Ensemble Sans-Souci has continued to push the boundaries of classical music, collaborating with artists from other genres and experimenting with new forms of performance. They remain committed to their original vision of creating music that is both technically precise and emotionally engaging, and they continue to inspire audiences around the world with their passion and artistry.More....
