Role:PerformerEverton Gloeden is a Brazilian classical guitarist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and innovative interpretations of classical guitar repertoire. Born in São Paulo in 1973, Gloeden began playing guitar at the age of nine and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He studied with renowned Brazilian guitarists such as Edelton Gloeden (his father), Henrique Pinto, and Paulo Porto Alegre, and later pursued advanced studies in Europe with masters such as Abel Carlevaro, Leo Brouwer, and Alvaro Pierri. Gloeden's early career was marked by numerous awards and accolades, including first prizes at the National Guitar Competition of São Paulo (1991), the Young Soloists Competition of the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (1992), and the International Guitar Competition of Havana (1993). He also won the prestigious Villa-Lobos Prize for Guitar Interpretation in 1994, which led to his debut recording for the Brazilian label Biscoito Fino. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Gloeden established himself as one of the leading guitarists of his generation, performing extensively in Brazil and abroad and collaborating with a wide range of musicians and ensembles. He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Havana Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has also given recitals and chamber music concerts in major venues and festivals in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Gloeden's repertoire is diverse and eclectic, ranging from the Baroque and Classical periods to contemporary music and Brazilian popular styles. He has recorded several albums that showcase his versatility and musical curiosity, including "Bach and the Brazilian Baroque" (2000), which features his own arrangements of works by Bach, Scarlatti, and Brazilian composers such as Villa-Lobos and Guerra-Peixe; "Guitar Recital" (2003), which includes pieces by Giuliani, Sor, Tárrega, and Piazzolla; and "Saudade" (2008), a tribute to the Brazilian composer Garoto that blends classical and jazz elements. In addition to his performing career, Gloeden is also a dedicated teacher and mentor to young guitarists. He has taught at several institutions in Brazil and Europe, including the University of São Paulo, the University of Campinas, the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, and the Conservatory of Amsterdam. He has also given masterclasses and workshops in many countries, sharing his insights and techniques with aspiring guitarists of all levels. Gloeden's contributions to the classical guitar world have been recognized by his peers and critics alike.
