Inna Faliks is a Ukrainian-born classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and innovative programming. She was born in Odessa, Ukraine in 1977 and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents were both musicians, and her mother was her first piano teacher. Faliks showed exceptional talent from a young age and was accepted into the Lysenko Special Music School in Kiev at the age of seven. She studied there for ten years, during which time she won numerous competitions and performed extensively throughout Ukraine and Russia. In 1994, Faliks moved to the United States to continue her studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees there, studying with such renowned pianists as Solomon Mikowsky and Constance Keene. After completing her studies, Faliks began to establish herself as a soloist and chamber musician, performing in major concert halls throughout the United States and Europe. She has appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the San Francisco Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, and the Kiev Philharmonic. Faliks is also a dedicated chamber musician and has collaborated with many of the world's leading instrumentalists and vocalists. She is a founding member of the Amerigo Trio, which has performed extensively throughout the United States and Europe and has released several critically acclaimed recordings. In addition to her performing career, Faliks is also an accomplished educator and has taught at several prestigious institutions, including the University of California, Los Angeles and the Aspen Music Festival and School. One of the highlights of Faliks' career was her performance of the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven in a series of concerts in Los Angeles in 2013. The series, which was presented by the Colburn School, was hailed as a major achievement and showcased Faliks' exceptional musicianship and interpretive skills. Faliks has also received numerous awards and honors throughout her career. She was a finalist in the 2001 Martha Argerich International Piano Competition and was a recipient of the prestigious Salon de Virtuosi Career Grant in 2005. In 2014, she was awarded the Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award by the University of Maryland. In addition to her performing and teaching activities, Faliks is also a passionate advocate for new music and has commissioned and premiered works by many contemporary composers. She has recorded several albums of new music, including "Reimagine: Beethoven and Ravel" and "Polonaise-fantaisie: The Story of a Pianist." Faliks' playing has been praised for its technical brilliance, emotional depth, and interpretive insight. She is known for her ability to bring out the unique character and personality of each piece she performs, whether it is a classic work from the standard repertoire or a contemporary composition.
