Gregory Maytan is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music through his exceptional talent and dedication. Born in 1975 in Kiev, Ukraine, Maytan showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of six. His parents, both professional musicians, recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Maytan's early years were spent in Ukraine, where he received his initial training in music. He attended the Kiev Special Music School for Gifted Children, where he studied under the guidance of renowned violinist and pedagogue, Boris Garlitsky. Maytan's talent and dedication were evident from an early age, and he quickly established himself as one of the most promising young musicians in the country. In 1991, Maytan and his family immigrated to the United States, where he continued his musical education. He enrolled at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned violinist Paul Kantor. Maytan's time at the University of Michigan was a period of significant growth and development for him as a musician. He honed his skills and expanded his repertoire, and his talent continued to flourish. After completing his studies at the University of Michigan, Maytan embarked on a career as a professional musician. He quickly established himself as a sought-after performer, and his talent and dedication earned him numerous accolades and awards. In 1999, he won the prestigious Concertmaster Competition of the New World Symphony, a highly competitive and prestigious competition that recognizes the top young musicians in the country. Maytan's career as a performer has been marked by numerous highlights and achievements. He has performed as a soloist with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, and the New World Symphony. He has also performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Berlin Philharmonic. In addition to his work as a performer, Maytan is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. He has served on the faculty of several prestigious music schools, including the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, the University of Miami Frost School of Music, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is also the founder and artistic director of the Las Vegas Music Festival, an annual event that brings together some of the world's top musicians for a week-long celebration of classical music. Maytan's dedication to music and his exceptional talent have earned him numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2003, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise for a significant career in music.
