The Petrof Piano Trio is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over two decades. The trio was founded in 1999 by three talented musicians, pianist Jitka Čechová, violinist Jan Fišer, and cellist Štěpán Doležal, who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to create something truly special. Jitka Čechová, the pianist of the trio, was born in Prague and began playing the piano at the age of five. She studied at the Prague Conservatory and later at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Jan Fišer, the violinist, was also born in Prague and began playing the violin at the age of six. He studied at the Prague Conservatory and later at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Štěpán Doležal, the cellist, was born in Brno and began playing the cello at the age of seven. He studied at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. The trio's name comes from the Petrof piano, a renowned Czech piano manufacturer that has been producing high-quality pianos since 1864. The trio has a special connection to the Petrof piano, as they have been playing on Petrof pianos since the beginning of their career. The Petrof Piano Trio quickly gained recognition for their exceptional performances and musicality. They won the first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in České Budějovice in 2000, and the following year they won the first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Trapani, Italy. These early successes helped to establish the trio as one of the most promising young ensembles in the world of classical music. Since then, the Petrof Piano Trio has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals around the world. They have performed at the Wigmore Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, among many others. They have also been invited to perform at numerous international music festivals, including the Prague Spring Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and the Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara de Aguascalientes. The trio has also collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians in the world of classical music. They have performed with violinist Gidon Kremer, cellist Mischa Maisky, and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, among others. These collaborations have helped to further establish the trio's reputation as one of the most talented and versatile ensembles in the world. In addition to their performances, the Petrof Piano Trio has also recorded several albums. Their debut album, released in 2002, featured works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Dvořák. Since then, they have released several more albums, including a recording of works by Shostakovich, a recording of works by Smetana and Dvořák, and a recording of works by Mendelssohn and Schumann.
