Gösta Björling was a Swedish tenor who was born on June 26, 1907, in Borlänge, Sweden. He was the younger brother of the famous tenor Jussi Björling and the baritone Olle Björling. Gösta Björling was born into a family of musicians, and his father David Björling was a well-known singer and conductor in Sweden. Gösta Björling began his musical training at a young age, and he studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He made his debut as a tenor in 1930, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the most promising young singers in Sweden. He was known for his powerful voice, his impeccable technique, and his ability to convey emotion through his singing. In 1932, Gösta Björling made his debut at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, where he performed the role of Don Ottavio in Mozart's "Don Giovanni." This performance was a major success, and it marked the beginning of a long and illustrious career for Gösta Björling. Over the next few years, Gösta Björling continued to perform at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, and he also began to make a name for himself on the international stage. He performed in opera houses throughout Europe, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Paris Opera, and La Scala in Milan. One of the highlights of Gösta Björling's career came in 1936, when he performed the role of Radames in Verdi's "Aida" at the Salzburg Festival. This performance was a major success, and it helped to establish Gösta Björling as one of the leading tenors of his generation. He was only 60 years old at the time of his death, but he had already left an indelible mark on the world of classical music. Today, Gösta Björling is remembered as one of the greatest tenors of the 20th century.
