The Orquesta Sinfonica de la Opera de Barcelona, also known as the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, is a classical music ensemble based in Barcelona, Spain. The orchestra was founded in 1944 by conductor Antoni Ros-Marbà, who served as its music director for over 20 years. The orchestra's early years were marked by a focus on opera, as it was originally formed as the resident orchestra for the Gran Teatre del Liceu, one of Europe's most prestigious opera houses. However, over time the orchestra expanded its repertoire to include symphonic works and other genres of classical music. Throughout its history, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra has been home to many talented musicians and conductors. Some of its most notable music directors have included Ros-Marbà, Salvador Mas Conde, and Eiji Oue.
