Chœur des Jeunes de L'Église National Vaudoise, also known as the Youth Choir of the National Vaudoise Church, is a classical music artist that has been captivating audiences with their beautiful choral performances for over 50 years. The choir was founded in 1968 by Jean-Claude Fasel, a Swiss conductor and composer, and has since become one of the most renowned youth choirs in Europe. The choir is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, and is made up of around 50 young singers between the ages of 16 and 30. The members of the choir are all volunteers and come from various backgrounds and professions, but they all share a passion for music and a desire to create beautiful choral performances. The choir's repertoire is diverse and includes both sacred and secular music from various periods, including Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and contemporary music. The choir has performed in numerous concerts and festivals in Switzerland and abroad, including France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and the United States. One of the highlights of the choir's career was their performance at the 1993 World Youth Day in Denver, Colorado, where they sang for Pope John Paul II. The choir also performed at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, and at the 2008 World Choir Games in Graz, Austria, where they won a gold medal in the Youth Choirs of Equal Voices category. In addition to their performances, the choir has also released several recordings, including their debut album "Chants de la Réforme" in 1979, which features music from the Protestant Reformation, and their most recent album "Laudate Dominum" in 2018, which includes sacred music from various periods. The choir has been led by several conductors over the years, including Jean-Claude Fasel, Michel Corpataux, and their current conductor, Blaise Plumettaz. Plumettaz, who has been the choir's conductor since 2012, is a Swiss conductor and composer who has worked with several renowned choirs and orchestras in Europe. The choir has received numerous awards and accolades over the years, including the Prix de la Ville de Lausanne in 1979, the Prix de la Fondation Vaudoise pour la Culture in 1993, and the Prix de la Fondation Leenaards in 2018. The choir has also been recognized for their contributions to the cultural life of Switzerland and has been invited to perform at several official events, including the inauguration of the Swiss National Museum in Zurich in 2016. Despite their many achievements, the choir remains committed to their mission of promoting choral music and inspiring young people to pursue their passion for music. They continue to perform in concerts and festivals around the world, and their beautiful choral performances continue to captivate audiences and inspire new generations of musicians.
