Arthur Jussen is a Dutch classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and musical sensitivity. Born on September 28, 1996, in Hilversum, Netherlands, Arthur grew up in a family of musicians. His father, Paul Jussen, is a pianist and his mother, Christianne van Gelder, is a violinist. Arthur's older brother, Lucas Jussen, is also a pianist, and the two brothers often perform together as a duo. Arthur began playing the piano at the age of four, and by the time he was six, he was already performing in public. He studied with Marjès Benoist at the Utrecht Conservatory, where he graduated with honors in 2014. Arthur has also studied with Maria João Pires, Menahem Pressler, and Ferenc Rados. Arthur's talent was recognized early on, and he has won numerous awards and competitions. In 2005, he won the first prize at the Steinway Piano Competition in Amsterdam, and in 2006, he won the first prize at the Princess Christina Competition. Arthur has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed at major music festivals, such as the BBC Proms, the Verbier Festival, and the Rheingau Musik Festival. One of Arthur's most memorable performances was his debut with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in 2011, when he performed Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor. The performance was widely praised for its musicality and technical brilliance, and it helped to establish Arthur as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. In addition to his solo performances, Arthur also performs as a duo with his brother Lucas.
