Role:EnsemblePeriod:RomanticModernGenre:ChamberOrchestralConcerTante Chamber Players is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1997 by pianist and artistic director, Diana Fanning. The ensemble is based in Washington, D.C. and is known for its innovative programming and dynamic performances. The founding of ConcerTante Chamber Players was inspired by Fanning's desire to create a chamber music ensemble that would showcase the talents of some of the finest musicians in the Washington, D.C. area. Fanning, who had previously performed with the National Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, wanted to create a group that would allow her and her colleagues to explore a wide range of repertoire and collaborate with other artists. The ensemble's main members include Diana Fanning on piano, violinists Elizabeth Field and Heather LeDoux Green, violist Rachel Young, cellist Sean Neidlinger, and clarinetist Robert DiLutis. Over the years, the ensemble has also collaborated with a number of guest artists, including flutist Tara Helen O'Connor, oboist Nicholas Stovall, and soprano Rosa Lamoreaux. ConcerTante Chamber Players has performed at a number of prestigious venues, including the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the National Gallery of Art. The ensemble has also been featured on a number of radio programs, including NPR's "Performance Today" and WETA's "Front Row Washington." One of the highlights of ConcerTante Chamber Players' career was their performance at the 2009 Smithsonian Folklife Festival. The ensemble was invited to perform as part of the festival's "Giving Voice: The Power of Words in African American Culture" program, which celebrated the rich cultural heritage of African Americans. ConcerTante Chamber Players performed a program of works by African American composers, including William Grant Still and George Walker, and received a standing ovation from the audience. In addition to their performances, ConcerTante Chamber Players has also been recognized for their recordings. The ensemble's debut album, "ConcerTante," was released in 2001 and featured works by Mozart, Brahms, and Schumann. The album received critical acclaim and was named one of the "Top Ten Classical CDs of 2001" by the Washington Post. ConcerTante Chamber Players has also been recognized for their commitment to education and outreach. The ensemble has performed for a number of schools and community organizations, and has worked with young musicians through their "ConcerTante Young Artists" program. The program provides opportunities for young musicians to perform with the ensemble and receive coaching and mentorship from the ensemble's members. Overall, ConcerTante Chamber Players has established itself as one of the premier chamber music ensembles in the Washington, D.C. area. With their innovative programming, dynamic performances, and commitment to education and outreach, the ensemble has earned a reputation as a vital and important contributor to the classical music community.More....
