Florian Mitrea is a Romanian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and musical interpretations. Born on October 7, 1989, in Bucharest, Romania, Mitrea showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. He was encouraged by his parents, who recognized his talent and enrolled him in the George Enescu Music High School in Bucharest. Mitrea's musical education continued at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied under the guidance of Christopher Elton and Joanna MacGregor. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 2011 and a Master of Arts degree in 2013. During his time at the Royal Academy of Music, Mitrea won several awards, including the Harold Craxton Prize, the Christian Carpenter Piano Prize, and the Alumni Development Award. Mitrea's talent as a pianist was recognized early on, and he began performing in public at the age of eight. He made his debut with the Romanian Radio Orchestra at the age of 11, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor. In 2007, Mitrea won first prize at the George Enescu International Piano Competition, one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. Mitrea's success at the George Enescu International Piano Competition opened doors for him, and he began performing at major concert halls around the world. He has performed at the Wigmore Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall in London, as well as at the Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York.
