Diggins attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the tutelage of some of the most renowned violinists of the time. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1982 and went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the same institution. Diggins' talent and dedication to music were evident from an early age, and he quickly gained recognition as a rising star in the classical music world. He won several prestigious awards and competitions, including the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis, the Naumburg International Violin Competition, and the Avery Fisher Career Grant. Diggins' career took off in the 1980s, and he began performing with some of the most renowned orchestras in the world, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He also performed as a soloist with many other orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. One of the highlights of Diggins' career was his performance at the 1986 Tanglewood Music Festival, where he played the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
