Camerata Labacensis is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1974 in Labin, Croatia. The ensemble is known for its performances of Baroque and Classical music, and has gained a reputation for its high level of musicianship and attention to detail. The founding members of Camerata Labacensis were a group of music students from the local high school in Labin. They were led by their music teacher, Zoran Juranić, who served as the ensemble's first conductor. The group began by performing at local events and festivals, and quickly gained a following in the community. Over the years, Camerata Labacensis has grown in size and scope. Today, the ensemble consists of around 20 musicians, including string players, woodwind players, and a harpsichordist. The group is led by conductor and artistic director, Igor Vlajnić. Their 2009 album, "Baroque Masterpieces," features works by Bach, Vivaldi, and Telemann, and received critical acclaim. One of the ensemble's most notable achievements came in 2014, when they were awarded the City of Labin's annual cultural award. The award recognized Camerata Labacensis' contributions to the cultural life of the community, as well as their international success. Camerata Labacensis continues to be an active and respected ensemble in the classical music world. They are known for their commitment to historical performance practice, and their ability to bring new life to works from the Baroque and Classical periods.
