Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1964, Lechner began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She studied with some of the most respected teachers in Argentina, including Eduardo Delgado and Bruno Gelber, and went on to win numerous awards and competitions throughout her early career. Lechner's breakthrough came in 1984, when she won the prestigious International Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Poland. This competition is widely regarded as one of the most challenging and prestigious piano competitions in the world, and Lechner's victory was a testament to her exceptional talent and hard work. Following her win, Lechner began to receive invitations to perform in major concert halls around the world, and she quickly established herself as one of the leading pianists of her generation. Over the course of her career, Lechner has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic.
