Alexandr Vasiliev was born on May 15, 1985, in Moscow, Russia. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Alexandr showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Alexandr's parents recognized his talent and enrolled him in the Central Music School in Moscow, where he received his formal training in piano. He studied under the guidance of some of the most prominent piano teachers in Russia, including Tatiana Zelikman and Sergei Dorensky. At the age of 12, Alexandr made his debut performance at the Moscow Conservatory, where he played Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor. The performance was a huge success, and it marked the beginning of Alexandr's career as a concert pianist. Over the years, Alexandr continued to hone his skills and develop his unique style of playing. He drew inspiration from some of the greatest pianists of all time, including Vladimir Horowitz, Arthur Rubinstein, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. In 2003, Alexandr won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome, Italy. The competition was a major milestone in his career, and it helped him gain recognition as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. In the years that followed, Alexandr went on to perform at some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors and orchestras, including Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of Alexandr's most memorable performances was his rendition of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow in 2010. The performance was hailed as a masterpiece, and it cemented Alexandr's reputation as one of the greatest interpreters of Rachmaninoff's music. In addition to his performances, Alexandr has also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Chopin's complete Nocturnes. His recordings have received numerous awards and accolades, including the Diapason d'Or and the Gramophone Award. Throughout his career, Alexandr has remained committed to promoting classical music and inspiring the next generation of musicians. He has served as a mentor and teacher to many young pianists, and he has also been involved in various educational initiatives aimed at promoting classical music among young people. In recognition of his contributions to the world of classical music, Alexandr has received numerous awards and honors, including the Order of Friendship from the Russian government and the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. Today, Alexandr Vasiliev is widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of his generation.
