His father was a musician, and he grew up in a musical family. Anton showed an early interest in music and began studying the piano at a young age. He also learned to play the violin and the cello. At the age of 14, Anton began studying composition with the renowned composer Franz Schubert. Schubert recognized Anton's talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Anton continued his studies with other prominent composers, including Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Ignaz Moscheles. In 1840, Anton made his debut as a composer with his Piano Sonata in C minor. The piece was well-received, and Anton began to gain recognition as a composer. He continued to compose throughout his life, producing a large body of work that included symphonies, chamber music, operas, and choral works. One of Anton's most famous works is his Symphony No. 1 in D major, which he composed in 1846. The symphony is notable for its use of folk melodies and its lively, energetic character. It was well-received by audiences and critics alike and helped establish Anton as a major composer. Another highlight of Anton's career was his opera, The Magic Flute, which he composed in 1856. The opera is based on the famous work by Mozart and is known for its beautiful melodies and intricate orchestration. The Magic Flute was a great success and remains one of Anton's most popular works. Throughout his career, Anton was known for his innovative approach to composition. He was particularly interested in incorporating folk music into his works, and he traveled extensively throughout Europe to collect and study folk melodies. He also experimented with new forms and techniques, such as using chromaticism and unconventional harmonies. Anton's later years were marked by personal tragedy. In 1870, his wife and two of his children died in a fire at their home. Anton was devastated by the loss and struggled to cope with his grief. He continued to compose, but his works from this period are often somber and introspective. Anton died on July 17, 1886, in Vienna. He was 66 years old.
