During his time at the university, he became interested in jazz music and started playing the piano in jazz clubs around Los Angeles. In 1952, Bock founded the Pacific Jazz record label with his friend Roy Harte. The label was dedicated to promoting jazz music and providing a platform for emerging jazz artists. Bock served as the label's producer and recorded some of the most influential jazz albums of the time. One of the highlights of Bock's career was his collaboration with jazz pianist and composer Dave Brubeck. In 1954, Bock produced Brubeck's album "Jazz Goes to College," which became a commercial success and helped establish Brubeck as a leading jazz artist. Bock went on to produce several more albums for Brubeck, including "Time Out," which featured the hit single "Take Five." Bock's work with Brubeck earned him critical acclaim and several awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Album Cover in 1960. He also produced albums for other jazz artists, including Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, and Paul Desmond. In addition to his work in jazz, Bock was also a respected classical music producer. He produced several albums for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, including recordings of works by composers such as Igor Stravinsky and Aaron Copland. Bock's contributions to the world of music were recognized with several awards and honors.
