Julien Libeer is a Belgian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and thoughtful interpretations of classical repertoire. Born on October 18, 1987, in Brussels, Belgium, Libeer began playing the piano at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. As a child, Libeer studied with renowned Belgian pianist Daniel Blumenthal and later attended the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he studied with Abdel Rahman El Bacha. He also received guidance from other notable pianists, including Maria João Pires and Murray Perahia. In 2004, at the age of 16, Libeer won first prize at the International EPTA Piano Competition in Namur, Belgium. This early success helped to launch his career as a professional pianist, and he soon began performing in major concert halls throughout Europe. One of Libeer's most notable performances came in 2010, when he was invited to perform at the prestigious Klavier-Festival Ruhr in Germany. His performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the WDR Symphony Orchestra was widely praised, and he was hailed as a rising star in the classical music world. Since then, Libeer has continued to perform at major concert halls and festivals around the world, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Philharmonie de Paris, and the Edinburgh International Festival. He has also collaborated with many renowned conductors and orchestras, including the Brussels Philharmonic, the Orchestre National de Lille, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. In 2014, he was awarded the Prix Caecilia for his recording of Schubert's Impromptus, and in 2016, he received the Klara Award for Best Soloist for his recording of Beethoven's Piano Concertos Nos. 4 and 5.
