Artificii Musicali is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2005 in Bucharest, Romania. The ensemble is known for its unique approach to classical music, combining traditional and contemporary elements to create a fresh and innovative sound. The founding members of Artificii Musicali were violinist Alexandru Tomescu, cellist Răzvan Suma, and pianist Horia Mihail. All three musicians were already well-established in the Romanian classical music scene, having won numerous awards and performed with some of the country's most prestigious orchestras. From the beginning, Artificii Musicali set out to challenge the traditional boundaries of classical music. The ensemble's repertoire includes both well-known classical works and lesser-known pieces, as well as contemporary compositions and arrangements. The musicians also incorporate elements of jazz, folk music, and other genres into their performances, creating a unique and dynamic sound. One of the highlights of Artificii Musicali's early career was their performance at the 2006 George Enescu International Festival, one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the world. The ensemble received critical acclaim for their performance of works by Enescu, as well as their innovative arrangements of traditional Romanian folk songs. In the years that followed, Artificii Musicali continued to gain recognition for their innovative approach to classical music. They performed at numerous festivals and concert halls throughout Europe, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. In 2011, Artificii Musicali released their debut album, "Transylvanian Folk Songs," which featured their unique arrangements of traditional Romanian folk songs. The album received widespread critical acclaim and helped to establish the ensemble as one of the most exciting and innovative classical music groups in Europe. In addition to their performances and recordings, Artificii Musicali is also committed to music education and outreach. The ensemble regularly conducts workshops and masterclasses for young musicians, and they have also collaborated with schools and community organizations to bring classical music to underserved communities. Over the years, Artificii Musicali has received numerous awards and accolades for their contributions to classical music. In 2013, they were awarded the "Cultural Merit" medal by the Romanian government in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the arts. They have also been recognized by the European Union for their contributions to cultural diversity and innovation.
