David Trio is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2002. The trio consists of three members: pianist Hae-Sun Kang, violinist Hyun-Su Shin, and cellist Sang-Eun Lee. The ensemble is named after the biblical figure David, who was known for his musical talents. Hae-Sun Kang, the pianist of the trio, was born in South Korea and began playing the piano at the age of four. She studied at the Juilliard School in New York and has won numerous awards, including the first prize at the 2000 Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona. Hyun-Su Shin, the violinist, was also born in South Korea and began playing the violin at the age of six. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany, and has won several awards, including the first prize at the 2001 International Violin Competition in Kloster Schöntal, Germany. Sang-Eun Lee, the cellist, was born in South Korea and began playing the cello at the age of seven. She studied at the Juilliard School in New York and has won several awards, including the first prize at the 2014 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. The David Trio has performed in major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Seoul Arts Center, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. The ensemble has also collaborated with renowned musicians such as violinist Maxim Vengerov and cellist Mischa Maisky. One of the highlights of the David Trio's career was their performance at the 2009 Seoul Spring Festival of Chamber Music. The trio performed Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Myung-Whun Chung.
