Emmanuel Strosser is a French classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and insightful interpretations of a wide range of repertoire. Born in 1974 in Strasbourg, France, Strosser began playing the piano at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he was a student of Jacques Rouvier and won several prizes for his performances. Strosser's career as a concert pianist began in earnest in the late 1990s, when he won several major competitions, including the International Piano Competition of Epinal and the International Piano Competition of Brest. These victories helped to establish him as a rising star in the classical music world, and he soon began to receive invitations to perform at major concert halls and festivals around the world. One of Strosser's most notable early performances was at the 2000 Chopin Festival in Warsaw, where he played a program of works by Chopin and Liszt to critical acclaim. This performance helped to cement his reputation as a pianist with a deep understanding of the Romantic repertoire, and he has since become known for his interpretations of works by Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, and other composers of the Romantic era. In addition to his performances of Romantic repertoire, Strosser has also gained recognition for his interpretations of works by contemporary composers. He has premiered several new works by composers such as Philippe Hersant and Thierry Escaich, and has recorded albums of music by Messiaen, Boulez, and other modernist composers. Strosser's career has been marked by numerous highlights and achievements. In 2003, he was awarded the Prix de la Révélation Classique de l'Adami, a prestigious award given to young classical musicians in France. He has also been a frequent guest performer at major festivals such as the Festival de La Roque d'Anthéron, the Festival de Radio France et Montpellier, and the Festival de Piano de La Grange de Meslay. One of Strosser's most memorable performances was at the 2008 Festival de La Roque d'Anthéron, where he played a program of works by Schumann and Liszt. His performance of Schumann's Carnaval was particularly praised for its clarity and sensitivity, and he received a standing ovation from the audience. This performance helped to establish him as one of the leading interpreters of Schumann's music, and he has since recorded several albums of Schumann's works. Strosser's discography is extensive, with over a dozen albums to his name. His recordings of Chopin's complete Nocturnes and Schumann's Carnaval have been particularly well-received, and he has also recorded albums of works by Liszt, Debussy, and Ravel. In addition to his solo recordings, Strosser has also collaborated with other musicians, including the cellist Henri Demarquette and the violinist Renaud Capuçon. Strosser's playing is characterized by a deep musicality and a sensitivity to the nuances of the music he performs. He is known for his ability to bring out the emotional depth of a piece, while also maintaining a sense of clarity and precision in his playing. His performances are often praised for their technical brilliance and their ability to capture the essence of the music he is playing. In addition to his career as a performer, Strosser is also a dedicated teacher.
