Iris Fairfax was born on May 15, 1985, in London, England. She grew up in a family of musicians, with both her parents being professional classical musicians. Her mother was a pianist, and her father was a cellist. From a young age, Iris was exposed to classical music and began playing the piano at the age of four. After graduating from the Yehudi Menuhin School, Iris went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She continued to excel in her studies and won several more awards and competitions, including the Royal Overseas League Music Competition and the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship. Iris began performing professionally while still a student at the Royal Academy of Music. She made her debut at the Wigmore Hall in London in 2006, performing a solo recital to critical acclaim.
