Artist Info
Van-Anh Nguyen is a Vietnamese-Australian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a pianist, composer, and producer. Born on October 17, 1981, in Nha Trang, Vietnam, Nguyen grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a composer and conductor, while her mother was a singer. Nguyen started playing the piano at the age of three and showed exceptional talent from an early age. Nguyen's family moved to Australia when she was six years old, and she continued her music education there. She studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and later at the Australian Institute of Music. Nguyen also received a scholarship to study at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City. Nguyen's career as a classical music artist began to take off in the early 2000s. In 2002, she won the Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year Award, which helped to launch her career. She has since performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. One of Nguyen's most notable performances was at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where she played a piece she composed herself called "Dan Bau Phu Xuan." The piece was performed on a traditional Vietnamese instrument called the dan bau, which Nguyen had learned to play as a child. The performance was widely praised and helped to bring Vietnamese music to a global audience. Nguyen has also released several albums of her own music. Her debut album, "Dan Bau: Vietnamese Music," was released in 2005 and featured traditional Vietnamese music played on the dan bau. She has since released several albums of her own compositions, including "Three-Mountain Pass" and "The Art of Piano." In addition to her work as a pianist and composer, Nguyen is also a producer and has worked on several film and television projects. She produced the soundtrack for the 2017 film "The Tail Job" and has also worked on the music for several television shows, including "MasterChef Australia" and "The Voice Australia." Nguyen's work as a classical music artist has been widely recognized. In addition to winning the Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year Award, she has also won the Australian Art Music Award for Best Performance of an Australian Composition and the Melbourne Prize for Music. She was also named a finalist for the Australian of the Year Award in 2017. Nguyen's success as a classical music artist is a testament to her talent and dedication. She has worked tirelessly to promote Vietnamese music and culture on the global stage and has become a role model for young musicians around the world. With her unique blend of traditional Vietnamese music and classical piano, Nguyen has created a sound that is truly her own and has earned her a place among the world's leading classical music artists.More....
