She later went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance. During her time at the Royal Northern College of Music, Gillian studied under the guidance of renowned pianists such as Dina Parakhina and Graham Scott. After completing her studies, Gillian returned to Malta and began performing as a soloist and chamber musician. She quickly gained a reputation for her technical skill and musicality, and was soon invited to perform at major venues and festivals across Europe.
