Born in Madrid, Spain in 1970, Calvo began his musical journey at a young age, showing a natural talent for the cello. He began his formal training at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned cellist and pedagogue, Radu Aldulescu. Calvo's talent and dedication to his craft quickly became apparent, and he soon began to make a name for himself in the classical music world. He won numerous awards and competitions, including the First Prize at the National Cello Competition in Spain, the First Prize at the International Cello Competition in Portugal, and the Grand Prize at the International Cello Competition in Italy.
