Birth:1987 in London, EnglandAmy Harman is a British classical musician who has made a name for herself as a talented bassoonist and chamber musician. Born in 1989 in London, Harman grew up in a musical family and began playing the bassoon at the age of 11. She quickly showed promise as a musician and went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London. During her time at the Royal Academy of Music, Harman was awarded numerous prizes and scholarships, including the prestigious Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Rose Bowl for outstanding achievement. She also won the Academy's highest award, the Principal's Prize, and was selected to perform as a soloist with the Academy's Symphony Orchestra. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music, Harman went on to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also performed as a soloist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the London Mozart Players. In addition to her work as an orchestral musician, Harman is also an accomplished chamber musician. She is a founding member of the London-based chamber ensemble the Aurora Orchestra, with whom she has performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall and the Wigmore Hall. Harman's talent as a musician has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades. In 2011, she was named the winner of the Wind and Brass category at the Royal Over-Seas League Music Competition, and in 2012 she was awarded the Making Music Award for Young Concert Artists. She has also been a finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition and the International Solo Bassoon Competition in Italy. Despite her success as a musician, Harman remains committed to promoting classical music to new audiences. She is a passionate advocate for music education and has worked with a number of organizations to bring classical music to young people.
