Ivan Sokolov was born on May 15, 1985, in Moscow, Russia. He was born into a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Ivan showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Ivan's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly developed a passion for classical music. Ivan's talent was evident from an early age, and he began performing in public at the age of six. As Ivan grew older, he continued to hone his skills as a pianist. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory, one of the most prestigious music schools in Russia. During his time at the conservatory, Ivan worked with some of the most renowned piano teachers in the world, including Vladimir Tropp and Sergei Dorensky. Ivan's talent as a pianist quickly became recognized, and he began performing in major concert halls around the world. He made his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2005, where he received a standing ovation for his performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2. Over the years, Ivan has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors in the world, including Valery Gergiev, Daniel Barenboim, and Simon Rattle. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Ivan has also established himself as a chamber musician. He has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Tokyo String Quartet. Ivan's talent as a pianist has been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 2008, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise for the future. He has also been awarded the Gilmore Young Artist Award and the Arthur Rubinstein Prize. Despite his success as a pianist, Ivan remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to practice for hours every day, always striving to improve his technique and interpretation of the music he plays. In addition to his career as a pianist, Ivan is also passionate about teaching. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School and the Royal Academy of Music in London.
