He was born in Auckland, New Zealand, in 1984, and grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a professional bassoonist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Hoadley was exposed to classical music and began playing the bassoon at the age of 10. Hoadley's talent for music was evident from an early age, and he quickly became a proficient bassoonist. He attended the University of Auckland, where he studied music and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 2005. He then went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the University of Melbourne, where he studied with renowned bassoonist Kim Walker. During his studies, Hoadley began to establish himself as a talented musician, and he was soon performing with some of the leading orchestras in New Zealand and Australia. In 2006, he was appointed as the principal bassoonist of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, a position he held for three years. He also performed with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his work as an orchestral musician, Hoadley also began to establish himself as a soloist and chamber musician. He performed in numerous recitals and chamber music concerts, and in 2008, he was a finalist in the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards. Hoadley's talent and hard work paid off, and he began to receive recognition for his achievements. In 2009, he was awarded the prestigious Churchill Fellowship, which allowed him to travel to Europe and study with some of the world's leading bassoonists. He spent time in London, Paris, and Berlin, studying with musicians such as Klaus Thunemann, Pascal Gallois, and Dag Jensen. After returning from Europe, Hoadley continued to perform and record extensively. He has recorded several albums, including "Bassoon Concertos" and "Bassoon Music from the Americas," which have received critical acclaim. He has also performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his work as a performer, Hoadley is also a respected educator. He has taught at several universities and music schools, including the University of Auckland, the University of Melbourne, and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
