Tobias Feldmann is a German violinist who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born on May 22, 1991, in Bochum, Germany, Feldmann showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of five. He was encouraged by his parents, who were both musicians themselves, and received his first lessons from his mother. Feldmann's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly progressed in his studies. He went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Zakhar Bron, one of the most renowned violin teachers in the world. Under Bron's guidance, Feldmann honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of the instrument and its repertoire. Feldmann's career as a professional musician began in earnest in 2012, when he won the International Violin Competition "Andrea Postacchini" in Italy. This was a major achievement for the young musician, and it opened many doors for him in the world of classical music. He went on to win several other competitions, including the International Violin Competition "Premio Rodolfo Lipizer" in Italy and the International Violin Competition "Max Rostal" in Germany. Feldmann's talent and hard work have also been recognized by the wider music community. In 2015, he was awarded the prestigious "Prix Davidoff" by the Davidoff Foundation, which recognizes outstanding young musicians. He has also been a recipient of the "Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben" scholarship, which supports young musicians in their studies and careers. Feldmann's performances have been praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. He has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Munich Chamber Orchestra. He has also collaborated with some of the most respected conductors in the world, including Sir Neville Marriner, Vladimir Ashkenazy, and Christoph Eschenbach. One of the highlights of Feldmann's career so far was his performance at the 2018 BBC Proms, one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the world. He performed the Brahms Violin Concerto with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, under the baton of conductor Thomas Søndergård. The performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, and cemented Feldmann's reputation as one of the most exciting young violinists of his generation. Feldmann is also a passionate chamber musician, and has performed with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles. He is a member of the Trio Marvin, along with pianist Marianna Shirinyan and cellist Marius Urba. The trio has won several awards and has performed at major venues and festivals around the world. In addition to his performing career, Feldmann is also committed to teaching and mentoring young musicians. He has given masterclasses at several prestigious institutions, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. He is also a member of the faculty at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, where he teaches violin. Feldmann's repertoire is wide-ranging, and he is equally at home performing works from the classical, romantic, and modern periods. He has a particular affinity for the music of Brahms, and has recorded the composer's violin sonatas with pianist Boris Kusnezow. He has also recorded works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Shostakovich, among others.
