The Romabarocca Ensemble is a classical music group that specializes in Baroque music. The ensemble was founded in Rome, Italy in 2005 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for the music of the Baroque era. Since its inception, the ensemble has become one of the most respected and sought-after Baroque music groups in the world. The ensemble's founding members were all accomplished musicians in their own right. The group was led by violinist and conductor Riccardo Minasi, who had previously worked with some of the most prestigious Baroque music groups in Europe, including the Academy of Ancient Music and Il Giardino Armonico. Other founding members included cellist Gaetano Nasillo, harpsichordist Andrea Friggi, and lutenist Massimo Moscardo. From the beginning, the Romabarocca Ensemble was committed to performing Baroque music in a historically informed manner. This meant using period instruments and playing the music in a way that was faithful to the original intentions of the composers. The ensemble's musicians spent countless hours researching the music and the instruments of the Baroque era, in order to achieve the most authentic performances possible. The ensemble's first major performance was in 2006, at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy. The performance was a huge success, and the ensemble quickly gained a reputation for their virtuosic playing and their commitment to historical accuracy. Over the next few years, the ensemble performed at some of the most prestigious music festivals in Europe, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Festival de Beaune. In 2009, the ensemble released their first album, "Concerti per violino e archi," which featured works by Antonio Vivaldi and Giuseppe Tartini. The album was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to establish the ensemble as one of the leading Baroque music groups in the world. The ensemble went on to release several more albums over the next few years, including "Concerti per violoncello e archi" and "Concerti per flauto e archi." One of the highlights of the ensemble's career came in 2012, when they were invited to perform at the BBC Proms in London. The Proms is one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the world, and the ensemble's performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike. The ensemble's performance of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" was particularly well-received, with many critics noting the ensemble's virtuosic playing and their commitment to historical accuracy. Over the years, the Romabarocca Ensemble has won numerous awards and accolades for their performances and recordings. In 2010, they were awarded the prestigious Diapason d'Or award for their album "Concerti per violino e archi." The ensemble has also been nominated for several Grammy Awards, including Best Classical Album and Best Chamber Music Performance. Today, the Romabarocca Ensemble continues to be one of the most respected and sought-after Baroque music groups in the world. The ensemble's musicians are all highly skilled and dedicated to their craft, and their performances are always a treat for audiences who appreciate the beauty and complexity of Baroque music. Whether performing in concert halls or recording studios, the Romabarocca Ensemble is a true testament to the enduring power and beauty of classical music.
