Born on January 2, 1931, in Joliet, Illinois, Marocco began playing the accordion at the age of seven. He was a prodigious talent, and by the time he was a teenager, he was already performing professionally. Marocco's early musical influences were the popular music of the 1940s and 1950s, as well as the classical music he heard on the radio. He was particularly drawn to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, and he spent countless hours studying and practicing his compositions. In the 1950s, Marocco moved to Los Angeles, where he quickly established himself as one of the most sought-after accordionists in the city. He began working as a studio musician, playing on countless recordings for film and television. He also performed with some of the biggest names in popular music, including Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and Madonna. Despite his success in the world of popular music, Marocco never lost his love for classical music. He continued to study and perform classical works throughout his career, and he became known as one of the foremost interpreters of Bach's music on the accordion. Marocco's career reached new heights in the 1980s, when he began performing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. He was the first accordionist to perform with the orchestra, and his performances were met with critical acclaim. He also began composing and arranging music for the orchestra, further cementing his reputation as a versatile and talented musician. In addition to his work with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Marocco performed with many other orchestras and ensembles throughout his career. He also recorded numerous albums, both as a solo artist and with other musicians.
