Artist Info

Trio Des Alpes is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1990 in Switzerland. The ensemble consists of three main members: violinist Umberto Clerici, cellist Alberto Miodini, and pianist Corrado Greco. The trio has gained international recognition for their unique interpretations of classical music, particularly works by composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert. The founding of Trio Des Alpes was the result of a chance meeting between Clerici and Miodini in 1989. The two musicians were both studying at the Conservatory of Milan and were introduced by a mutual friend. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and began playing together regularly. In 1990, they were joined by Greco, who had also studied at the Conservatory of Milan and had a reputation as a talented pianist. The trio's name, Trio Des Alpes, reflects their shared love of the mountains and the natural beauty of Switzerland, where they have performed extensively. Their first major performance was in 1991 at the Lucerne Festival, where they received critical acclaim for their interpretation of Beethoven's "Archduke" Trio. This performance launched their career and led to invitations to perform at major festivals and concert halls throughout Europe and the United States. Over the years, Trio Des Alpes has become known for their innovative interpretations of classical music. They are known for their ability to bring a fresh perspective to familiar works, while still remaining true to the composer's original intent. Their performances are characterized by a deep emotional intensity and a strong sense of musical unity. One of the highlights of Trio Des Alpes' career was their performance at the 2008 Salzburg Festival, where they performed Schubert's "Trout" Quintet with renowned pianist András Schiff. The performance was hailed as a triumph and led to a recording contract with the prestigious ECM label. The resulting album, "Schubert: Trout Quintet," was released in 2009 and received widespread critical acclaim. In addition to their performances, Trio Des Alpes has also been recognized for their contributions to the world of classical music. They have received numerous awards and honors, including the prestigious Echo Klassik Award in 2010 for their recording of Brahms' Piano Trios. They have also been recognized for their commitment to education and outreach, and have worked with young musicians through masterclasses and workshops. Today, Trio Des Alpes continues to perform and record, bringing their unique perspective and passion for classical music to audiences around the world. They remain committed to exploring new interpretations of familiar works and to sharing their love of music with audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
