Alexandra Conunova is a Moldovan violinist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and musical sensitivity. Born on October 17, 1988, in Chisinau, Moldova, Conunova began playing the violin at the age of six. She showed exceptional talent from an early age and was soon accepted into the prestigious Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where she studied with renowned violinist Eduard Grach. Conunova's musical education continued at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne in Switzerland, where she studied with Pierre Amoyal. She also received guidance from other notable musicians, including Maxim Vengerov, Ivry Gitlis, and Salvatore Accardo. Conunova's dedication to her craft and her exceptional talent soon began to pay off, and she began to win awards and recognition for her performances. One of Conunova's earliest successes came in 2002, when she won first prize at the George Enescu International Competition in Bucharest, Romania. This was followed by a string of other awards, including first prize at the International Violin Competition "Andrea Postacchini" in Fermo, Italy, in 2006, and first prize at the International Violin Competition "Vasco Abadjiev" in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2008. Conunova's talent and hard work also earned her the opportunity to perform with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras. In 2012, she made her debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski. This was followed by performances with other leading orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Conunova's performances have been praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. She has a particular affinity for the music of the Romantic era, and her interpretations of works by composers such as Tchaikovsky, Brahms, and Sibelius have been widely acclaimed. She has also championed the music of lesser-known composers, such as the Moldovan composer Eugen Doga, whose music she has performed and recorded. In addition to her performances as a soloist, Conunova is also an active chamber musician. She has collaborated with a number of distinguished musicians, including pianist Boris Berezovsky and cellist Gautier Capuçon. In 2015, she formed the Trio Concorde with pianist Pavel Gililov and cellist Natalie Clein, and the group has since performed at major venues and festivals throughout Europe. Conunova's talent and hard work have earned her numerous accolades and awards. In 2012, she was awarded the "Premio Paganini" by the city of Genoa, Italy, in recognition of her outstanding musical achievements. She has also been awarded the "Moldova" National Prize, the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Moldovan citizen, and has been named a "Cultural Ambassador of Moldova" by the country's Ministry of Culture. Despite her many achievements, Conunova remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to practice for several hours each day and is always seeking to improve her technique and musical interpretation. She is also committed to promoting classical music and inspiring the next generation of musicians. In addition to her performances, she regularly gives masterclasses and workshops for young musicians and is involved in a number of educational initiatives.
