Rémi Durupt is a French classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and musical interpretations. Born on May 22, 1992, in Lyon, France, Durupt showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument and began studying with renowned piano teachers in France and abroad. Durupt's musical education began at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Lyon, where he studied with pianist and pedagogue Géry Moutier. He later continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he studied with pianists Michel Dalberto and Hortense Cartier-Bresson. Durupt also received guidance from other notable pianists, including Murray Perahia, András Schiff, and Maria João Pires. Durupt's talent and dedication to his craft quickly became apparent, and he began to receive recognition for his performances. In 2012, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition of Lagny-sur-Marne, and in 2013, he was awarded the Prix de la Fondation Safran pour la Musique. He also won first prize at the International Piano Competition of Epinal in 2014 and was a finalist at the prestigious Concours International Long-Thibaud-Crespin in 2015. Durupt's performances have taken him to some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, and the Wigmore Hall in London. He has also performed at major festivals, such as the Festival de La Roque d'Anthéron, the Festival de Radio France et Montpellier, and the Festival de Piano de La Grange de Meslay. One of Durupt's most notable performances was his debut recital at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris in 2016. The program included works by Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, and Ravel, and Durupt's performance was praised for its technical brilliance and musical sensitivity. The following year, he made his debut with the Orchestre National de Lyon, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 under the baton of conductor Leonard Slatkin. Durupt's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works from the Baroque era to the present day. He has a particular affinity for the music of Bach, Beethoven, and Schumann, and his performances of their works have been praised for their clarity, precision, and emotional depth. He is also a champion of contemporary music and has premiered works by composers such as Thierry Escaich, Philippe Hersant, and Bruno Mantovani. In addition to his performing career, Durupt is also a dedicated teacher and has given masterclasses in France, Germany, and Japan. He is currently a professor of piano at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Lyon. Durupt's musical achievements have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 2017, he was awarded the Prix des Musiciens from the Fondation Simone et Cino Del Duca, and in 2018, he was named a laureate of the Fondation Banque Populaire. He has also been supported by the Fondation Meyer and the Fondation Safran pour la Musique. Durupt's recordings have received critical acclaim and include a solo album of works by Schumann and Ravel, as well as a recording of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 with the Orchestre National de Lyon. He has also recorded chamber music with violinist Fanny Clamagirand and cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière.
