Anthony de Mare is a renowned classical pianist and educator, known for his innovative and boundary-pushing approach to music. He went on to study at the Manhattan School of Music and the Juilliard School, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance. One of de Mare's most notable achievements is his ongoing project, "Liaisons: Re-Imagining Sondheim from the Piano." This ambitious undertaking involves commissioning over 30 contemporary composers to create new arrangements of songs by the legendary Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim, which de Mare then performs in concert. The project has been praised for its creativity and originality, and has garnered critical acclaim from audiences and critics alike. In addition to his work as a performer, de Mare is also a dedicated educator and mentor. He has taught at several prestigious institutions, including the Manhattan School of Music and the University of California, Santa Cruz, and has served as a guest lecturer and masterclass instructor at many others.
