Role:PerformerAmy Owens is a rising star in the world of classical music. Born in 1986 in Memphis, Tennessee, Owens grew up in a musical family. Her mother was a choir director and her father played the trumpet. Owens began singing in church at a young age and quickly developed a love for music. Owens attended the University of Memphis where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. She then went on to earn a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Throughout her education, Owens received numerous awards and accolades for her vocal abilities. In 2013, she was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She was also a winner of the National Opera Association Vocal Competition and the Bel Canto Foundation Competition. After completing her education, Owens began performing professionally. She has appeared with numerous opera companies and orchestras throughout the United States. Some of her most notable performances include her portrayal of Susanna in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" with the Cincinnati Opera and her role as Zerlina in Mozart's "Don Giovanni" with the Utah Opera. In addition to her opera performances, Owens is also a sought-after concert soloist. She has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, among others. Owens is known for her powerful and expressive voice, as well as her ability to connect with audiences. She has been praised for her ability to bring emotion and depth to her performances, and for her ability to convey the meaning and beauty of the music she sings. In 2019, Owens released her debut album, "Haunts." The album features a collection of songs by American composers, including Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland, and Jake Heggie. The album received critical acclaim and was praised for Owens' beautiful voice and emotional performances. In addition to her performing career, Owens is also a dedicated educator. She has taught voice at the University of Memphis and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
