Wonjun Lee is a classical music artist who has made a name for himself in the world of music. Born on May 15, 1992, in Seoul, South Korea, Lee showed an early interest in music. His parents, who were both music teachers, recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion. Lee began his musical training at the age of five, studying the piano under the guidance of his mother. He quickly showed a natural aptitude for the instrument, and by the age of eight, he had won his first piano competition. This early success fueled his passion for music, and he continued to study the piano with his mother until he was 12 years old. At the age of 13, Lee was accepted into the prestigious Yewon School in Seoul, where he continued his musical education. He studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Professor Lee Kyung-sook, who recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. In 2008, Lee was awarded a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. He moved to the United States and began studying under the guidance of Professor Yoheved Kaplinsky. After graduating from Juilliard in 2012, Lee continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, Germany. He studied under the guidance of Professor Gerhard Oppitz, one of the most respected pianists and teachers in Europe. During his time in Munich, Lee won the International Piano Competition in Santander, Spain, and the International Piano Competition in Hamamatsu, Japan. Lee has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. He has also performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his performances, Lee is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Throughout his career, Lee has received numerous awards and accolades for his performances and recordings. In 2015, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who have the potential for major careers in music. He has also been awarded the Gilmore Young Artist Award, the Arthur Rubinstein Prize, and the International German Piano Award. Lee's recordings have received critical acclaim, with his debut album, "Beethoven: Piano Sonatas," receiving a five-star review from The Guardian. His recordings of the works of Chopin, Schumann, and Liszt have also received critical acclaim. In addition to his musical career, Lee is also a dedicated philanthropist. He has worked with numerous charities and organizations, including the Korean American Community Foundation and the Juilliard School's Music Advancement Program.
