Benjamin Durant was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Durant showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the piano at the age of four. Durant's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue music seriously. He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires, at the age of six. Pires quickly recognized Durant's potential and took him under her wing, becoming his mentor and guiding him through his musical education. Durant's talent continued to flourish under Pires' tutelage, and he began performing in public at the age of eight. He made his debut with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of ten, playing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor. The performance was a huge success, and Durant received critical acclaim for his virtuosic playing. Over the years, Durant continued to perform with various orchestras and at prestigious venues around the world. He made his European debut at the age of 14, playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was a huge success, and Durant was hailed as a rising star in the classical music world. Durant's career continued to soar, and he went on to perform with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He also performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Sydney Opera House. In addition to his performances, Durant also received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. He also won the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, Russia, and the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. Despite his success, Durant remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continued to study with Maria João Pires throughout his career, and he also worked with other renowned pianists and teachers, including Martha Argerich and Vladimir Ashkenazy. Durant's repertoire was vast and varied, and he was known for his virtuosic playing and his ability to bring out the emotional depth and beauty of the music he played. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of the works of Beethoven, Chopin, and Mozart. Tragically, Durant's career was cut short when he died in a car accident at the age of 27.
