Mac Howland was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a classical pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Mac showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Mac's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue music seriously. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly progressed, showing a natural ability for the instrument. By the age of ten, Mac had already performed in several recitals and competitions, winning numerous awards. In 1997, Mac was accepted into the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division, where he continued his musical education under the tutelage of renowned pianist Yoheved Kaplinsky. During his time at Juilliard, Mac honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. In 2003, Mac graduated from Juilliard and went on to study at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. There, he studied with pianist Gary Graffman and continued to refine his technique and interpretation of classical music. In 2005, he made his debut at Carnegie Hall, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the New York Philharmonic. Over the years, Mac has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
