Born in 1954 in New York City, Regnier grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a classical pianist. Regnier's parents recognized his musical talent at an early age and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Regnier began playing the guitar at the age of 10 and quickly developed a passion for the instrument.
