Scott Hanoian is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a pianist, conductor, and educator. Born in 1977 in Michigan, Hanoian showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. He quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument and began taking lessons with local teachers. As a young musician, Hanoian was heavily influenced by the works of classical composers such as Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin. He spent countless hours practicing and studying their music, and his dedication paid off when he won his first piano competition at the age of 12. Hanoian continued to excel in his musical studies throughout his teenage years, and he eventually earned a scholarship to attend the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. There, he studied under renowned pianist and teacher Logan Skelton, who helped him refine his technique and develop his own unique style. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Hanoian went on to earn a Master of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He then began performing professionally as a solo pianist, playing in venues across the United States and Europe. In addition to his work as a pianist, Hanoian also began conducting orchestras and choirs. He served as the music director of the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra from 2005 to 2010, and he has conducted numerous other ensembles throughout his career. One of Hanoian's most notable performances came in 2009, when he was invited to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. He played a solo recital that included works by Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin, among others, and received rave reviews from critics and audience members alike. Hanoian has also been recognized for his work as an educator. He has taught piano and music theory at several universities, including the University of Michigan and Oakland University. He has also served as a guest lecturer and clinician at numerous music schools and festivals. Throughout his career, Hanoian has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the classical music world. In 2007, he was named the Michigan Artist of the Year by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. He has also been awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise for the future.
