Artist Info
Trio Cavatina is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2005. The ensemble consists of three members: Harumi Rhodes on violin, Priscilla Lee on cello, and Ieva Jokubaviciute on piano. The trio has gained recognition for their dynamic and expressive performances, as well as their commitment to exploring lesser-known works of the classical repertoire. The founding of Trio Cavatina can be traced back to the Marlboro Music Festival, an annual gathering of musicians in Vermont that has been a breeding ground for some of the world's most renowned chamber ensembles. It was there that Rhodes, Lee, and Jokubaviciute first met and began playing together. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and decided to form their own ensemble. Since then, Trio Cavatina has performed extensively throughout the United States and abroad, earning critical acclaim for their performances. They have been praised for their technical precision, musical sensitivity, and ability to communicate the emotional depth of the music they play. One of the highlights of Trio Cavatina's career was their performance at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's CMS Two program in 2009. This prestigious program is designed to showcase emerging chamber ensembles, and Trio Cavatina was one of only six ensembles selected for the 2009-2010 season. The trio's performance was widely praised, with The New York Times describing them as "a group of musicians who seem to be playing for the sheer joy of it." In addition to their performances, Trio Cavatina has also been recognized for their recordings. Their debut album, released in 2010, featured works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Dvorak, and was praised for its "impeccable musicianship" and "deeply felt interpretations." The trio's second album, released in 2013, focused on the music of Robert Schumann and was similarly well-received. Trio Cavatina has also been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 2009, they were awarded the prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award, which recognizes young chamber ensembles with exceptional artistic potential. The award included a cash prize and a residency at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. In 2011, Trio Cavatina was named the winner of the Naumburg Chamber Music Competition, one of the most prestigious competitions for chamber ensembles in the United States. The prize included a cash award and a series of concerts in New York City. Throughout their career, Trio Cavatina has remained committed to exploring lesser-known works of the classical repertoire. They have premiered works by contemporary composers such as Pierre Jalbert and Paul Moravec, and have also delved into the works of lesser-known composers from the classical era. Overall, Trio Cavatina has established themselves as one of the most exciting and dynamic chamber ensembles of their generation. With their technical precision, musical sensitivity, and commitment to exploring the lesser-known corners of the classical repertoire, they have earned critical acclaim and a devoted following of fans.More....
