Born in the United States, Baty grew up in a family that valued music and the arts. Her parents were both musicians, and they encouraged her to pursue her passion for singing from a young age. Baty began her formal training in music at the age of 16 when she enrolled in the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. There, she studied voice and piano and developed her skills as a performer. After completing her studies at Interlochen, Baty went on to attend the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance. Following her graduation from Eastman, Baty continued her studies at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where she earned a Master of Music degree in vocal performance. During her time at the conservatory, Baty had the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned vocal coaches and conductors in the world, including John Moriarty, Phyllis Curtin, and Craig Smith. After completing her studies, Baty began her career as a professional opera singer. She made her debut in 1999 as Cherubino in Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro" with the Boston Lyric Opera. Since then, she has performed with some of the most prestigious opera companies in the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Paris Opera. One of the highlights of Baty's career was her performance as the title character in Handel's "Ariodante" at the Royal Opera House in London. The production was directed by David McVicar and conducted by William Christie, and it received critical acclaim for Baty's performance as well as the overall production. In addition to her work in opera, Baty has also established herself as a concert singer. She has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors in the world, including James Levine, Sir Simon Rattle, and Bernard Haitink.
