Born on May 22, 1985, in Stockholm, Sweden, Öhman grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. Her mother was a pianist, and her father was a cellist, so it was only natural that she would follow in their footsteps. Öhman began playing the cello at the age of six and quickly showed a natural aptitude for the instrument. She studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and later at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, where she received her Master's degree in Music Performance. During her studies, Öhman had the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned cellists in the world, including Frans Helmerson, Arto Noras, and Torleif Thedéen. This competition is one of the most highly regarded in the world of classical music and has launched the careers of many successful cellists. Since then, Öhman has performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra. She has also given recitals in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. One of the highlights of Öhman's career was her performance of the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012. This performance was widely praised by critics and established Öhman as one of the leading interpreters of this iconic piece of music. She has since performed the Elgar Cello Concerto with many other orchestras around the world, cementing her reputation as a master of this challenging work. In addition to her work as a soloist, Öhman is also a passionate chamber musician and has collaborated with some of the most talented musicians in the world. She is a member of the Kungsbacka Piano Trio, which has won critical acclaim for its innovative and dynamic performances. The trio has performed at many of the world's leading music festivals, including the Edinburgh International Festival and the BBC Proms. In addition to her victory at the International Paulo Cello Competition, she has won the Swedish Soloist Prize and the Finnish Eero Rautavaara Prize. She has also been awarded the prestigious Pro Musica Prize by the Swedish Academy of Music, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the world of classical music. Despite her many achievements, Öhman remains humble and dedicated to her craft.
