Christine Ermacoff is a renowned cellist and music educator who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born in Los Angeles, California, in 1959, Ermacoff grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a violinist, and her mother was a pianist, so it was only natural that she developed an interest in music at a young age. Ermacoff began playing the cello when she was just six years old, and by the time she was a teenager, she was already performing in local orchestras and chamber groups. She attended the University of Southern California, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance. She then went on to study with some of the most renowned cellists in the world, including Lynn Harrell, Bernard Greenhouse, and Janos Starker. Throughout her career, Ermacoff has performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras and chamber groups in the world. She has been a member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, and the New York Philharmonic, among others. She has also performed with the Emerson String Quartet, the Tokyo String Quartet, and the Guarneri String Quartet. One of the highlights of Ermacoff's career was her performance of the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 1992.
