David Gaillard was born on May 15, 1985, in Paris, France. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Gaillard showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Gaillard's parents recognized his potential and enrolled him in the Conservatoire de Paris at the age of six. He quickly excelled in his studies and began performing in public at the age of eight. By the time he was a teenager, Gaillard had already won several prestigious competitions, including the International Piano Competition in Geneva and the Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw. In 2003, Gaillard was accepted into the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the renowned pianist Emanuel Ax. During his time at Juilliard, Gaillard continued to win awards and accolades, including the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2008. After graduating from Juilliard in 2007, Gaillard began performing extensively throughout the United States and Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented and dynamic young pianists of his generation, known for his virtuosic technique and passionate interpretations of classical repertoire. Some of Gaillard's most notable performances include his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2009, where he performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, and his performance at the 2012 BBC Proms, where he played Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the London Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his solo performances, Gaillard has also collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras and conductors. He has worked with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Valery Gergiev, and Daniel Barenboim, and has performed with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Throughout his career, Gaillard has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. In addition to the Avery Fisher Career Grant, he has been awarded the Arthur Rubinstein Prize, the Gilmore Artist Award, and the International Classical Music Award. Despite his success, Gaillard remains dedicated to his craft and continues to push himself to new heights.
